New film Noah--caution strongly advised!

The blockbuster film Noah is set to come out this Friday in theaters. As the title suggests, this film was based off of Genesis 6-9--the true historical story of Noah. With the Christian hit Son of God already hitting theaters a couple of weeks ago (and receiving a positive review from Plugged In, BTW), it would seem that Hollywood suddenly has an interest in producing Biblical movies again!

Or does it?

After reading some reviews for this film (it was released in Mexico last weekend), it would seem that this movie being "based" off the Bible is overstating things quite a bit. It appears from what I have read that Noah is presented in this movie as a psychopath who eventually wants to murder his own grandchildren; he also appears to be portrayed as an environmentalist wacko: some type of celestial "rock monsters" help build the ark; a bad guy hacks his way into the ark and causes trouble before he is killed; and only six people are actually on the ark: Noah, his wife, their three sons, and the pregnant wife of only one of the sons--who is bearing twins, both female. Weirdness!

Ken Ham posted an article way back cautioning about this movie, and though I could only half-believe him at the time, much of what he writes seems to be true as more fan reviews are posted. You can view Mr. Ham's original article at this link: http://blogs.answersingenesis.org/blogs/ken-ham/2013/11/19/dont-be-taken-in-by-the-noah-movies-promotion/

I would strongly advise any Christian planning to see this movie to wait at least till after Focus on the Family's movie review sight, pluggedin.com, posts a review for Noah. Though I can't give a definite criticism of this movie till all the facts are out, it does appear that Noah might not only take "artistic license" with the true Biblical account--but make the story so twisted as to be anti-Biblical.

  1. Hmmm...I was just talking about this at school today. My classmate agreed with your opinion - inaccuracy. Looks like a movie I will NOT be watching. :/

  2. Yeah, it really is too bad . . . I was hoping this movie would stay close to the original story! It is such an incredible event to make a movie from, but I agree, it is just NOT worth watching if everything above really is true of the movie.

  4. Ugh! Of course, I am sure movie director what's-his-name is just trying to draw unbelievers to see this movie as well, but it sounds like a movie no true Christian should support!

  5. I heard about this... :-/ Did you hear about the Son of God movie? :-/

Did you know Living Waters is coming out (really soon) with a Noah movie? Now that is something I am looking forward to seeing!

  6. Eden: Well, I haven't looked into Son of God that much, but it sounded like from the Plugged In review that it was pretty Biblically accurate. Did you hear something different?

And yes, I have heard of Ray Comfort's new film. I am looking forward to seeing it!

    1. I haven't heard anything good about Son of God. I'll have to ask Jordan for the link to the article we read. (Or you could just email him and save me the trouble. ;))
